Reflexology is a method for activating the healing powers of the body via the feet. The feet are a microcosm of the entire body and reflex points on the feet correspond to all the parts of the body. The reflex points are also mapped out on other parts such as the hands and the ears but the feet are the most accessible and provides the most relaxing treatment for the client.
What can I expect?
A full reflexology treatment lasts for around an hour and all the reflex points are stimulated. A full consultation needs to go ahead at the first session to determine a treatment plan. This will help the therapist to know which areas will need more attention and to determine if there are any contraindications. Reflexology is not advised during the first three months of pregnancy and if you have any severe medical conditions you should consult your doctor prior to treatment. However, reflexology is a complementary treatment and promotes healing of the body and works hand in hand with other holistic and conventional treatments and healing systems.
What are the benefits?
Reflexology improves circulation, cleanses the body of toxins and impurities and balances the whole system. It revitalises energyand serves as preventative health care as well as aiding the body's ability to self heal. Reflexology stimulates creativity and productivityas it opens channels in the body allowing energy to flow.
