Reiki is an ancient Japanese hands on healing system. The practitioner serves as a channel for the universal life energy which is transferred to the recipient either during a hands on treatment or via distance healing.
I am a qualified Reiki Master which means that alongside providing Reiki Treatments, I also run one to one Reiki training & attunement days. For more information about learning to use Reiki for yourself (level I) or training to become a practitioner (level II) please get in touch via phone or email. It is important to choose your Reiki Master carefully to make sure that you find the right teacher for you.
What can I expect?
It is a deeply relaxing treatment and the recipientwill feela strong sense of peace and wellbeing. The therapist lays their hands on various parts of the body to directthehealinglifeenergy to whereit is needed. Reiki is a very individual experience, people tend to experience this form of healing in different ways. Some people see beautiful colours, others feel intense heat or tingling sensations, I believe these are different representations of positive energy and how it heals the mind, body and spirit. When people ask me about Reiki and how it feels I explain that you have to experience it to understand it but it can not do any harm, everyone can have this treatment and it is very gentle using only the lightest touch over the top of clothing and blankets.
What are the benefits?
A Reiki treatment aids the natural process of renewal and toxin removal, cleansing and revitalising the system. It removes energy blocks, allowing it to flow freely enabling the body's natural healing abilities.
Reiki promotes relaxation and reduces stress levels. It is a complementary therapy and reinforces the benefitsof other treatments and therapies.
There are no contraindications with reiki which means that anyone can receive it. It will not interfere with any medicationor treatments and has no adverse effects. Reiki can reduce side effects from medication and aid recovery from illness.
What should I wear?
When receiving a Reiki treatment remove any jewellery and watches and wear comfortable clothing to aid relaxation.
Reiki level I is an exciting first step into this wonderful healing energy. You may have already received a Reiki treatment from a Reiki Practitioner. To be able to work with Reiki yourself you need to receive and attunement from a qualified Reiki Master/Teacher. The word Master can imply a hierarchy to some people but to be honest Master is simply the traditional word for Teacher, someone who is experienced in their craft and passes on the teachings and abilities to others.
Take your time choosing a Reiki Teacher. How do you feel when you interact with them? If your intuition tells you that a particular teacher is perfect for you then follow that inner guidance. Take time to ask your teacher how they trained, how long they have been practicing and teaching and anything else you want to know. A good teacher will be happy to spend time talking with you before you commit to a training course.
What is Reiki?
Reiki (pronounced Ray key) is a Japanese word consisting of two characters “Rei” and “ki”
There are different interpretations of the word that all amount to the same meaning.
Rei - is Japanse for spiritual, sacred or universal. It could be interpreted as “all that is”. Some call it “God light energy"
Ki - is energy or I like to say “life energy”. The vital energy that gives life to all creation. Most martial art forms work with energy such as Ki Gong and Tai Chi, distributing it throughout the body to increase health, balance and well being.
Reiki with a capital “R” is a specific healing support system, divided into three levels which have been passed along from Reiki Master to student for the past hundred years since its rediscovery by Mikao Usui.
Reiki is NOT a substitute for conventional medicine, but it can be a useful complementary therapy. During Reiki sessions do not try to diagnose a problem. Reiki works well with all other complementary or holistic therapies.
Reiki raises the vibration and assists with healing and calming the mind, body and soul on a physical and emotional level.
